Hoover FloorMate FH40010B Review

Last Updated: 30.09.22

1. Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub

Main advantage

The reason why the SpinScrub remains famous is because it does everything you wish your mop could; it scrubs away grime and dirt rapidly, and then sucks the dirty water into a tank, thereby preventing you from mopping the floor with the dirt you were trying to remove. It also saves you the time of waiting for the floor to dry. This helps prevent clumsy household members from ruining all your hardwork. If you want a cleaning companion that does almost everything for you, the SpinScrub is the real deal.

Main disadvantage

The SpinScrub has quite a low profile, which is great when you want to get under furniture undersides, but not so great when you want to clean the edges of walls and other tight spaces. You would need to lift the head a bit to collect dirt, which can be a bit of a hassle considering that its heavier than stick vacuums. Collecting sticky and larger debris would also require a bit more back-and-forth vacuuming, as the suction isn’t nearly as powerful as canister vacuums, nor is the scrubbing power as fine-tuned as manual scrubbing.

Main features explained

Powerful Suction and Scrub Power

The Hoover electric broom contains an army of brushes packed tightly together for wide floor coverage. The four brushes counter rotate to scrub different types of bare floors effectively without scratching more delicate surfaces like sealed woods. The vacuum mode, while not as powerful as canister vacuums, still produces a decent suction for most types of dirt not too big or heavy – perfect for readying floors for a thorough washing. The drying mechanism efficiently absorbs moisture and prevents recently mopped floors from getting dirty again.

Mop 2.0

One of the most common problems with regular mops is that when you mop over grime and dirt, the mop head would eventually get clogged with so much dirt that you’d be mopping the floor with muck. This creates a muddy mess that you would have to keep recleaning over and over again. The SpinScrub addresses this issue by using two tanks, one to hold the clean water with the detergent, and one to hold the dirty water. As you spray, clean detergent water over the floor, the SpinScrub gets the mucky water almost instantly, making sure that you always are mopping with clean water.

Top Notch Construction

The SpinScrub is made of tough, plastic components made to be sturdy yet lightweight. It definitely weighs a bit more than stick vacuums, but for something that vacuums, mops, and dries, the 16-pound weight is miniscule. Furthermore, the rubber wheels compensate the added weight when water is added to the SpinScrub. The robust construction is made to withstand shock and moisture better than most vacuums, mainly due to the fact that it is built to handle water filled with possibly corrosive components. The material does not easily go brittle and crack after being subjected to rapid changes in temperature and humidity, making it a perfect cleaning companion for all seasons.
